SF’s Fifth Annual A Taste of Tequila & Tamales by the Bay :: Sunday, April 17

I had quite the week after We LOVE Old Oakland and then at the East Bay Vintner's Wine Passport on Saturday. I had a chance to chat with Gene of the Our Oakland blog and meet tons of folks who love wine & tamales while we catered Periscope Cellars at Linden Street Brewery.

A couple of people asked if we were by any chance going to be at this year's A Taste of Tequila & Tamales at the Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center. We are honored to be participating for the first time, so we're on to this pairing (tamales & tequila) and let's see what festival season has in store for us this year!

A Taste of Tequila and Tamales by the Bay

Experience the flavors of tradition and history at San Francisco’s fifth annual A Taste of Tequila & Tamales by the Bay, an exciting feast for the senses, Sunday, April 17, at the San Francisco Design Center.

From Alquimia, Casa Noble, Crótalo, Don Pilar, El Relingo, Jose Cuervo Tradicional and Mañana to Premium Mezcales, agave’s other liquid treasure, you’ll sample from some of the most exquisite artisanal, hand-crafted tequilas available today. Learn the finer points of tequila tasting. Watch mixologists battle to make the best tequila cocktail in our signature competition, Tequila Rocks!, sponsored this year by Casa Noble Organic Tequila.

Sample tamales from La Borinqueña, The Whole Tortilla, Tres San Francisco: Tequila Lounge & Mexican Kitchen and Cocina Poblana. Enjoy chocolate from The San Francisco Chocolate Boutique , salsa from Don Ramon’s Mexican Restaurant, heirloom beans from Rancho Gordo, specialty spices from Spice of Life, and the flavors of San Francisco’s own, El Huarache Loco.

Feast your eyes on the eco-conscious jewelry of Yessica’s Creations, the unique tile art of Suha Suha, and exquisite award-winning crafts from Mexico by Hand, while the art and coffees from Mamá Art Cafe revitalize you.

This event benefits Benchmark Institute, a nonprofit organization that teaches advocates in non-profits how to use the law to help low-income communities.

If you love tequila and tamales, you don’t want to miss out. Advance tickets $45; after April 11 $50. Purchase tickets online here or call 415/ 695-9296. For more information, visit www.tamalesbythebay.org Follow us on Twitter @tamalesbythebay
